The BEST mini AUDIO RECORDER: Review of Sony ICD-UX560

Aaron has many audio recorders but relies on his Sony ICD-UX560 for his remote and stealth filming. It’s incredibly small, so it’s easy to tuck in a pocket while speaking into a lavaliere microphone. The mics on the Sony are pretty good, too. Check out the review to see what it can do.

  • Your review is incomplete. You did not show us what it sounds like without the external microphone.
Does anyone out there know how to do a competent product review?

  • Hello, can you hear the what is being recorded through the headphone simultaneously. Also, would it be possible to connect two microphones into the single input using a splitter?

  • Type-c isnt weak, in fact whilst I dont mind the usb-a connection it would be in reality much stronger. Cables are meant to flex, connectors are not, so if you were to knock this whilst plugged in, your much more likely to do damage than if it were plugged into a cable.

  • Aaron. I have watched many of these overview videos, but they all suffer from the same problem. I want to know, if the external MIC input, is also a stereo LINE IN as well. Some of us, like to download, from our other devices ?

  • Hi Aaron – Glad I found your video, helps a lot. Clip/lavalier mics are recommended by other websites for recording interviews – I'll be conducting 1-1 interviews for my research over the next year, some of which may take place outdoors and/or in public settings. It is recommended I use two clip mics, one for the interviewer, one for the interviewee. I assume so but can't find for sure if the Sony ICDUX560 can accommodate two? Thanks so much.

  • Why the USB POP OUT ?? Would be better the old USB Hembra conector with the cable. And why the built in battery no reemplazable ?? I own a Sony UX-533 with that damm USB pop out but it uses a 1 AAA (whit a long histamine) and could charge too directly of Recorder-PC conection… and i want to sell it and get the very old Sony PX-333 without that USB pop out and get a nice cable to carrie out. It will be eternal.
