  • I like it's unbiased sound output – so i can enhance (with EQ or something else) what i want to. That's why I don't like the "bassy" headphones; i don't want everything with extra deep bass. I've found that TO MY PERSONAL PREFERENCES the Bose QuietConfort is too many biased to the mid–range sounds (but still an excellent headphone). My MDR from the first batch had no issues so far.

  • They smashed my senheiser PXC550 and my BTNC 4.50. Absolutly flawless. Will never buy Senheiser ever again.

  • The cracking issue is very common. Happens on the inside and outside of the headband. Mine cracked so I designed and 3D printed some new parts. Stronger than the original parts and keep the same overall look. Sell them on eBay to help support my 3D printing hobby. ($24 free shipping for the set.)

  • 1. Not a problem and if it really puts you off, you can paint the leds with a marker.
    2. Not a problem except if you can't decide whether to use them with cable or wirelessly. I'd suggest making your mind.
    3. This is first real problem.
    4. Partially true. You just need to make sure you have aptX on your device and it will be better than enough on the go.
    5. Partially true. Microphones aren't perfect in these headphones but I have only had problems with wrong mode getting used (headphone/headset -mode) on Windows.

  • Only agree with no. 3 , all the other reason not to buy is pathethic and irrelevant
You should mention the cracking issue, I got the headphones and now the crack got worst and snapped the left part of the headphones. Now I need to figure out how to connect those two things together very firmly? Any solution will be much obliged

The video is to cringy, don't be emotional when describing something be more simplistic and to the point

  • I agree with each & every point. My headband cracked on both sides, just from normal wear. I’ve never tried to turn them the wrong way. The latest Sony model 1000X3 is reported to have changed the headband cracks & horrible phone call audio & improved the overall audio quality. Sony has also agreed to replace my headset free of charge!

  • I have these headphones in black and they are amazing. BUT to get the most out of it you need to use LDAC (a codec developed by sony). This codec is better than aptX (Qualcomms HiRes bluetooth codec). To use it you need android version 8 (oreo) or later, because google implemented it in andoid 8. And you need to use a Player that can handle HiRes Output (if you have your source files in HiRes that is), I use PowerAmp with great results (need to manually set the output to hires).
If you enable LDAC (enabled by default), you get amazing sound (very fun). The noise cancelling is awsome, the ambient sound voice mode is amazing.

    Pros:
    – long battery play time (depends on loudness, but I can listen to them for 3-5 days)
    – amazing sound (my daily headphones are Beyerdynamic dt990 pro)
    – good wireless range
    – touch control in the headphoneshell
    – ambient sound function for voice
    – very nice fit (comfortable) <– I have pretty big ears

    Flaws:
    – blinking led (not a huge deal, but annoys me when im listening in the dark)
    – If they are disabled (battery drained) and you use them with the 3.5mm cable, you notice a drop in sound quality (I guess they use active eq in the headphone itself)
    – I didnt see any earpad replacements (but you can apparently diy them with bose qc35 earpads) <– my earpads are fine after nearly 2 years of daily use
    – they are a bit heavy (the best is to test them) <– you will get used to this

All in all I did not regret buying them and I would recommend to at LEAST try them out.

  • I love these headphones and had mine for over a year. But they broke over the joint of the earpad, which apparently is quite common for them…

  • You forgot the most important drawback. If you're connected to pc/mac via cable and you receive a phone call. You'll have to do a number of manual steps:

    1. Remove your headphones from your head.
    2. Plug out the cable from your headphones.
    3. Grap your iPhone/Android phone physically and answer the call (unless you're unlucky and can't hear the call).
    4. Turn off your headphones.
    5. Tell the person on the phone that you'll need to enable the handsfree.
    6. Turn on your headphones, it will now connect to the iPhone/Android. In the meantime, you can't hear each others for some seconds.

    After the phone conversation:

    1. Find the mini-jack cable (it's somewhere on the floor).
    2. Plug the mini-jack cable into your headset.

And forget about bluetooth if gaming, the sound delay/lag is too much.

  • Why would you listening music in the dark? If you do why the led is a problem? So you mean you listening music in a dark room with your eyes open? 🤨🤔 this is the worst bullshit ive ever heard !

  • Fuck those headphones. They will break on you in less than a year. Mine broke after 10 months, some reports say that it can happen a lot sooner so be careful.

  • This video is totally fair and offers insight into the things that aren't so great about these headphones. Even the blinking light warning is useful because I currently use the mdr 100 abn model and they have the same issue. They aren't telling you not to buy them, they are simply informing you of some downsides that you wouldn't see in a typical review video. Way too many dislikes here; completely undeserved. Great video!

  • The breaking is a manufacturing defect. I had mine last 14 months, didn't turn them the wrong way or done anything wrong with them, always looked after and transported on the case. Sony will not repair without charging me over 120 euros and besides that, they are not able to tell me if the repair will resolve the problem. Probably the worst service ever. I am so sorry I traded my QC35.

  • I have this for 9 months now. it is ok but i wish i bought the bose instead.
    1. sometimes they cannot hear me during phone calls.
    2. cracks on both sides of headband (inner side right at the junction)
    3. there's a clicking sound (on the left side) as if there's a loose part whenever if i run or jump
i use it almost everday, when i go to gym or travels and i make sure to put in in the carrying case if not in use.
contacted sony but no answer yet.

  • I agree with the bad microphone quality for phone calls, especially if you are in an environment with background noise (e.g. close to a street).

Luca Morelli July 16, 2020 11:01 pm Reply
  • All of these, except for cracking issue and multipairing are non-issues really. As for the cracking issue, I believe it's because of people turning it the wrong way. I'm sure it can be fixed with glue even if you're out of warranty. Mine is 1 year old, almost daily use and perfect condition. Lack of multi-device bluetooth pairing is annoying, but the workaround is so simple that I wouldn't use that as a reason not to buy unless you switch devices all the time.

Mikko Korkalo July 16, 2020 11:01 pm Reply
  • The cracking of the headset is related to a bad batch from 2016. If your headphone cracked get it sorted under warranty. Not sure why people are getting all upset over this. There is a minimum of 1 year warranty on the product. If it broke after 6 months, get it fixed for free. People act as if its the end of the world when something breaks. Use your grey mass and contact the supplier or manufacturer to sort it out for you.

  • I disagree when it comes to sound quality, these are much better than the Qc 35.
What I agree with is the headband crack issue. Mine already have a tiny dent.

Kissa samson July 16, 2020 11:01 pm Reply
  • I think I know why these are cracking. It's the case and how it is stored. Before you store the headphones you need to fold the left ear cup into the headband, if you look at that motion when taking it off you would see that it bends the ear cup a bit towards you putting pressure on the part of the headband that connects the earcup. That's the exact same place where the cracks form. People who have had this issue all (guessing) used the travel case a lot and people who don't have it oftentimes have the headphones out and being used regularly.

That part is weak for the very same reason why airplane windows have very rounded corners. Stress cracks can build in corners, what sony should have done is rounded that corner a bit more.

So for anyone that have this headphone, be careful when folding it and putting it back on the case.
